La Fogata - Wadesboro: A Taste of Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Looks like this area is used to being a little different. Not upscale but why is the servers/owners table in the most conspicuous and central part of the restaurant? Most restaurants use an area out of view completely out at least tucked away. Torn bench seats. Front door so dirty I didn’t want to touch it. Limited options in this area Taco salad shell was near burnt. I did eat some of the shell. Cheap margaritas.

Excellent service, so friendly. Absolutely delicious food.

We were on a road trip and decide to stop to get some food instead of the typical drive-thru and go. I’m so happy we did. This place was a great choice. Service was very fast, the prices were very reasonable, and the food was fenomenal. I’m happy we stopped here instead of fast food.

Tuesday special is the way to go! Never been disappointed here!

Food was good with exception of the Pollo Fundido not having green peppers in it, per the menu. Excellent fajitas, a little over done, but that's mainly a cultural difference. Service was brisk. Refills of drinks was a little slow. Authentic food with real Latinos. Glad to see some small "mom and pop" restaurants still around.

This was our first time dining at The Fogata, and we loved it. The attention, the atmosphere, and the price, were great!! We'll be back. Highly recommended. Thanks!!!

Excellent food, excellent service, good pricing. To start, they brought chips and salsa. The chips were crisp, and flavorful. The salsa had a little heat to it, but not enough to detract from the excellent flavor. I had the Fogata Fajitas. The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection with a crispy outside, and juicy center, the beef was cooked medium well, and had excellent flavor. The pork was cooked almost exactly like the chicken, crispy outside, juicy center and excellent seasoning. The shrimp were fresh and cooked right! Some places get the shrimp underseasoned and over cooked - there was none of that here, it was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. The chorizo was definitely a cut above many restaurants we have visited, it was spicy, with a full flavor to match, without being overpowering to the other foods, making it the perfect compliment to the rest of the dish. The lettuce, tomato and salsa were all fresh and tasty, the rice was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. They have a wide variety of beer if you like, including Modelo Negra which is one of my favorites. The atmosphere was what we have come to expect, scenes of festive families and people, cantina music that sounded like it was coming straight from a Mexico City cantina (which is something everyone should experience at least once). If you find yourself peckish in Wadesboro, La Dogata is always a good choice.
